Arena workers began breaking down and cleaning out the FLA Live Arena ice on Thursday
All good things must come to an end.
This is obviously true of the Florida Panthers hockey season, which flatlined on Tuesday night in Las Vegas following one of the most exciting and thrilling stretches the franchise had ever seen.
It’s also true of some of the subtle things that come with a long playoff run.
Like, say, the ice.
This is probably the first time that FLA Live Arena, a building that’s been around since the late 90s, still had ice installed in June.
Well, soon that will be gone too.
Arena workers were observed on Thursday removing the ice, a process that sees them literally crack and crush it into small, movable pieces, which are then taken somewhere that they can melt.
The sad, annual practice took place as Panthers players cleaned out their lockers and met with team staff before going their separate ways for the summer.
In terms of closure, it doesn’t get much more literal than on Thursday inside FLA Live.
