The Florida Panthers now know their Stanley Cup Final opponent, and the team is not surprising in the slightest.
For the second year in a row, the Panthers will face the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. This is after the Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars by a 6-3 final score in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final. Given how incredible last year's series was between the Panthers and Oilers, hockey fans will naturally be excited to see these two stacked clubs face off against each other again.
It is safe to say that Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk is not surprised that Florida is going up against the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final again. In fact, he successfully predicted it all the way back to last year.
Following the Panthers winning the Stanley Cup in Game 7 last year, Tkachuk said this to Oilers star Connor McDavid in the handshake line:
"We'll see you next year."
Now, Tkachuk's prediction has come to fruition, and the Panthers will look to defeat McDavid and the Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final for the second year in a row because of it.
The Panthers certainly have a tough task ahead of them, as the Oilers are an excellent team and have been dominant this post-season. After losing the first two games of their first-round series against the Los Angeles Kings, the Oilers have a 12-2 record. Now, Tkachuk and the Panthers will need to shut them down.
Game 1 between the Panthers and Oilers will be played on Game 4. It will be interesting to see if Tkachuk and the Panthers can start the series off with a victory.
