After an explosive five-goal third period, the Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes by a 6-2 final score in Game 3. With this, the Panthers now have a commanding 3-0 series lead over the Hurricanes are only one win away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the third consecutive year.
Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues was certainly a notable reason for the Panthers' Game 3 win. While he did not score a goal, the 31-year-old forward recorded two assists on the night. With this latest impressive performance, Rodrigues has six assists in three games so far this series and has made some playoff history.
According to NHL Public Relations, Rodrigues is now only the sixth player in the history of the NHL to record at least two assists in their first three games of a Conference Finals series. This is an incredible stat and shows just how impactful the Toronto, Ontario native has been against the Hurricanes.
Rodrigues is known for his strong playmaking ability, and the Panthers are certainly getting that right now. In 13 post-season games so far this year, he has 10 assists and a plus-2 rating.
It will now be interesting to see if Rodrigues can stay hot for the Panthers after achieving this awesome stat. If he does, it will only help the Panthers' chances of picking up another win in Game 4 and knocking out the Canes.
