Nosek was injured during Florida's preseason victory over the Nashville Predators on Sunday night
The Florida Panthers are going to be without one of their offseason veteran additions for the next little while.
Forward Tomas Nosek took a hard fall into the boards after being tripped by Nashville's Jeremy Lauzon during Sunday's preseason doubleheader.
He left the game and did not return.
On Tuesday, Nosek was not on the ice when the Panthers took part in day four of their training camp at the Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale.
According to Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice, it sounds like Nosek will be out for at least the immediate future.
"It's going to take a few days for us to know the extent of the injury," Maurice said.
Initially, it was feared that Nosek may have suffered a concussion, but that is not the case.
He did not show any signs of a concussion after the hit, and he hasn’t in the time since, Maurice explained.
Now it’s just a matter of giving Nosek time to go on the mend.
"With him, it's how fast he heals, but this is not going to be short term,” Maurice said. “We're weeks, not days, where we are right now."
Nosek has been viewed as a potential replacement for Kevin Stenlund, centering Florida's fourth line.
He was flanked by A.J. Greer and Jesper Boqvist against Nashville on Sunday.
The injury will now give other players a chance to fight for that job, at least in the short term.

Patrick Giles and Kai Schwindt took a few reps between Greer and Boqvist on Tuesday, and don’t be surprised to see Zac Dalpe or MacKenzie Entwhistle get a look there as well.
“Now there’s an opportunity,” Maurice said. “All of the players who have center ice experience are going to get a real good look in the next three games.”
