The renamed Publix Plaza will offer all kinds of new fan experience activities, the Panthers say

The area outside of Amerant Bank Arena is getting a facelift thanks to a new partnership with the Florida Panthers.

On Thursday the team announced they had partnered up with Publix Supermarkets, which is now the Official Supermarket of the Florida Panthers.

As part of the partnership, the Panthers announced they had worked together to “enhance and reimagine” what is now called the Publix Plaza, the large area outside the main entrance to Amerant Bank Arena.

According to the team, the Publix Plaza will include “new fan experience activities including a one-of-a-kind photo opportunity featuring three 12-ft Florida panther topiaries, a locker room replica experience, a slapshot contest where fans can compare their shot speed to current Panthers players and a Zamboni photo opportunity.”

“We are excited to partner with a well-known and respected local hero in South Florida like Publix to create the ultimate tailgate and exciting experiences for Panthers fans pregame,” Panthers Chief Revenue Officer Shawn Thornton said in a statement released by the team. “Both of our organizations have a history of giving back and making a difference in our South Florida community and we plan to work together to further that impact.”

To celebrate the partnership, Stanley C. Panther and Plato the Publixaurus went on a shopping trip to purchase items to donate to HANDY Inc., a Broward County nonprofit “that provides customized programs to meet the individual needs of a child to take them from early childhood to adulthood.”

Video footage of the shopping trip and donation was provided by the Panthers and can be seen at the top of this page.
