Florida Panthers winger Jonah Gadjovich will start the season on the injured non-roster list as he continues to rehab a neck injury sustained last season.
It's more unfortunate news for Florida Panthers winger Jonah Gadjovich, as he's been placed on the injured non-roster list.
The Panthers submitted their opening-night roster yesterday by the 5 p.m. deadline, featuring 21 players: 12 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goaltenders.
Brad Marchand will begin the season on the injured reserve, but Gadjovich will be on the injured non-roster.
An injured non-roster (INR) designation in the NHL means a player is injured or has not passed the team's physical examination prior to the start of the regular season, allowing them to remain off the active roster without counting against the 23-player limit.
Gadjovich sustained a neck injury 10 games into the 2025-26 season and did not return after surgery. His initial timeline projected a return around February or March, but he never did. The first thought was that the Panthers were out of the playoff race and didn't want to risk rushing him back when the games didn't matter.
But it has since been revealed that the 27-year-old sustained several setbacks and is still far from returning, as the Panthers said he will be out indefinitely.
With this designation, Gadjovich could miss the entire 2026-27 NHL season, but that remains to be seen. The Panthers love the physical element Gadjovich brings to the fourth line, and missing him is a major loss.
