Florida Panthers prospect Shea Busch will attend Team Canada’s World Junior Summer Showcase, looking to leave a strong impression as he pushes to make the 2027 World Junior Championship roster.

Busch's ascent came as a bit of a surprise. The Panthers selected the winger in the fourth round (128th overall) in the 2025 NHL draft after splitting his season between the BCHL and the WHL. His numbers were modest, but he brought a 6-foot-3 frame and a power-forward mindset.

Flash forward to the 2025-26 season, and Busch is now starting the season with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL as the favorites to win the WHL Championship.

Busch starts the season on a tear, scoring 13 goals and 18 points in 12 games before suffering an injury. The 19-year-old wouldn't return until midway through the playoffs, but he looked strong, scoring seven goals and 13 points in 16 games. Busch did, however, struggle in the Memorial Cup, recording just one point in five games but also looking a bit out of place at times.

All of this has created an opportunity to put his name on the map as a potential player to make Team Canada. Busch has never represented his nation at an international event, but if the sniper can perform well at the showcase and carry the momentum to his freshman season with Penn State, there is a chance Busch can work his way into a depth role on Team Canada.

32 players will attend Team Canada's World Junior Summer Showcase camp, highlighted by Caleb Malhotra, Keaton Verhoeff, Carson Carels, Daxon Rudolph and Caleb Desnoyers. 

Canada will play three games in this brief tournament, taking on Sweden on July 29, Finland on July 30 and Team USA on Aug. 4. The tournament will be held in Windsor, Ont.
