The Florida Panthers have signed defensive prospect Matvei Shuravin to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The 20-year-old was selected in the third round, 97th overall, by the Panthers in the 2024 NHL draft.
“Matvei is a poised, two-way defenseman who reads the game exceptionally well,” said GM Bill Zito in a Panthers press release. “We’re looking forward to watching him progress as a professional in North America.”
The 6-foot-4 left-handed Russian blueliner is a defensive defenseman who skates fairly well for his size. During the 2025-26 season, Shuravin played in the KHL, VHL, and MHL.
In the KHL with CSKA Moskva, Shuravin posted one assist in 21 games. In the MHL, he notched two goals and three points in 15 games with Krasnaya Armiya Moskva, and in the VHL, he recorded one assist in 12 games with Zvezda Moskva.
Shuravin will carry a $1 million cap hit, split in three years by $850,000 NHL, $100,000 signing bonus, $50,000 game-played bonus, $85,000 in the minors in year one, $900,000/$100,000/$85,0000 in year two, and $950,000/$100,000/$85,000 in year three, according to Puckpedia.
