Florida's training camp roster has been reduced to 48 players

With the Florida Panthers now more than halfway through training camp and the preseason, the team is continuing to trim its roster down.

On Sunday, Florida announced that six players would be leaving Cats camp.

They are forwards Kai Schwindt, Skyler Brind’Amour, Wilmer Skoog and Patrick Giles and goaltenders Mack Guzda and Evan Cormier.

Each of the players are expected to report to the Panthers’ AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers.

Brind’Amour, Cormier and Skoog have all signed AHL contracts with Charlotte.

Of the group being sent to Charlotte, only Cormier didn’t get into any preseason action, though he did look excellent during training camp.

The Checkers have not announced an official start date for training camp, but its expected in the next week or so.

Opening night for Charlotte is Friday, Oct. 13 against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Florida’s camp roster now sits at 48 players.
