There is no question that Brad Marchand has been an awesome addition for the Florida Panthers. The 37-year-old winger has been a perfect fit in the Panthers' system, and this has especially been the case during the playoffs. In 14 post-season games thus far with the Panthers, he has three goals, 12 points, and a plus-11 rating.
The Panthers bringing in Marchand has also led to the club creating a new tradition. Following Panthers' wins, the club shoots plastic rats at Marchand, who has often been called one throughout his career.
Now, Panthers head coach has humorously shared his take on the Marchand rat celebration and made it clear that he is a fan of it.
"They're shooting them as hard as they can," Maurice said to reporters, including NHL.com's Jameson Olive. "They're not flipping them. It's funny as hell."
It is easy to understand why Maurice likes the Marchand rat celebration. It is certainly funny to watch, especially when seeing Marchand's reaction to being hit by them.
Maurice will certainly be hoping to see more of this postgame win tradition as the post-season continues for the Panthers. With their 5-0 win against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Panthers now have a 2-0 series lead and are two wins away from advancing to the Stanley Cup Final for the third year in a row.
