Samoskevich racked up 7 assists in 9 games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers

The Florida Panthers have signed one of the team’s top prospects to his first professional contract.
The Panthers announced Monday that they have signed Mackie Samoskevich to his three-year, entry-level contract.
Florida selected Samoskevich in the first-round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
“Mackie is a creative, dynamic playmaker who possesses an elite shooting ability and high hockey IQ,” Panthers General Manager Bill Zito said in a statement released by the team.
Samoskevich just completed a run with Florida’s AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers, after his collegiate season with the University of Michigan came to an end.
Over nine games with Charlotte between the regular season and playoffs, Samoskevich logged seven assists and played some key minutes for the Checkers.
Prior to that, between his two seasons with Michigan, the 20-year-old racked up 30 goals and 72 points over 79 NCAA contests.
Samoskevich will join the Panthers and get a front row seat to a team currently on an impressive run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
He’ll get to work with the team and coaching staff while getting his first taste of what it means to be an NHL professional.
“We’re excited to sign him to our organization and to see him take the next step in his progression as a professional,” Zito said.
