Bennett missed each of the Panthers first seven games with a lower-body injury
Florida Panthers center Sam Bennett suffered what appeared to be a left leg injury during Monday’s game in Boston.
It’s a horrible situation for the 27-year-old, who was making his season debut for the Panthers after missing the team’s first seven games with a lower-body injury.
Looking back at the play, Bennett was standing to the side of the Bruins next with Boston defender Hampus Lundholm, with the two jostling for position.
As the puck came through the goal crease, Lindholm put his right skate on the back of Bennett’s left ankle and appeared to put his wight on Bennett’s leg.
Bennett immediately went down and began grabbing at his ankle, rolling on the ice in obvious pain.
He was eventually helped off the ice, putting no weight on his left leg before limping to Florida’s locker room.
The Panthers officially ruled Bennett out for the game with a lower-body injury.
