Sam Bennett to return for Panthers on Sunday against Chicago

After getting hurt during the preseason, Bennett played in part of one regular season game before suffering a second injury

The Panthers held a full team practice on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Amerant Bank Arena.

The Florida Panthers are getting sam Bennett back in the lineup.

Again.

Bennett, who was having a great training camp with the Panthers, suffered a lower-body injury during the team's penultimate preseason game against Tampa Bay back on Oct. 5.

He would miss several weeks of action, eventually making his regular season debut on Nov. 30 in Boston.

After playing just 7:54, Bennett suffered another apparent lower-body injury while jostling for position next to the Bruins net.

Now, 13 days later, Bennett will return to the Panthers lineup when they host the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon.

The news was confirmed by Florida Head Coach Paul Maurice just before 11 a.m. Sunday morning.

Bennett is expected to center the Panthers second line, where he'll be flanked by Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk.

Here is how Florida's forward lines are expected to shake out with Bennett back in the lineup:

Evan Rodrigues – Sasha Barkov – Sam Reinhart

Carter Verhaeghe – Sam Bennet – Matthew Tkachuk

Eetu Luostarinen – Anton Lundell – Nick Cousins

Ryan Lomberg – Kevin Stenlund – Steven Lorentz

The puck drops on Sunday's matchup between the Cats and Hawks at 1 p.m. at Amerant Bank Arena.
