When it comes to the summertime, Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov always makes sure to spend time in his native Finland.
Whether he’s playing sports, hanging out with friends or visiting with family, Barkov loves his offseasons back home.
One thing that has become a staple of his summer is a shared charity event he does with a fellow Finn who also happens to be star player in the NHL.
Barkov and Patrik Laine of the Columbus Blue Jackets have been tight since the two were young players in the NHL.
They often spend the offseason training together in Finland, and for the past several years they have been hosting the Laine and Barkov Charity Golf tournament.
This year’s tournament went down on Saturday at the Nokia River Golf course in Nokia, Finland, with all proceeds benefitting the Tampere Children’s Clinic.

In addition to the golf action, there is video of Barkov with a hockey stick in the tee box, and it appears he’s trying to see how close he can shoot a golf ball to the pin.
Footage of him winding up and taking a slapshot before giving the camera a wink was posted on the Instagram story of the Laine & Barkov Charity Golf Instagram story.
Based off the photos circulating of the event, it looks like a great time was had by all, which translated to raising a lot of money for a great and important cause.
According to Finnish broadcaster Antti Makinen, who is part of the Laine & Barkov Charity group, the tournament brought in $100,118 euros for the children's clinic.
