Reinhart received the second-most first place votes behind Barkov, some deserved recognition for an elite two-way season
Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov is the NHL’s perennial two-way forward.
On Saturday, Barkov was named the 2024 Frank J. Selke Trophy winner, given annually "to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game.”
He also won the award in 2021 and was the finalist the following season.

After announcing the news that Barkov had won, the NHL also revealed the voting breakdown for the Selke.
Ballots for the award are cast by members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association.
Barkov received 165 first place votes out of 194 ballots. Sam Reinhart, who finished fourth in overall Selke voting, actually received the second-most first place votes, with 12.
It's fitting that Reinhart received some love from voters, as his two-way game was often praised by Panthers Head Coach Paul Maurice throughout the season.
As for Barkov, to say that he ran away with the Selke vote would be an understatement.
He finished with over three times more voting points than the second place finisher, Carolina’s Jordan Staal.
You can check out the full voting breakdown below, including how points are tabulated, below:
