Tallas has been Florida's goalie coach since 2009
The Stanley Cup made an appearance at a place that is very special to many in South Florida.
On Friday, Florida Panthers goalie coach Robb Tallas took his turn spending a special day with the Stanley Cup, as is the summer tradition for the players, coaches, executives and select staff members from the team that wins the historic trophy that year.
During his day, Tallas brought the Cup to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
It was in February of 2018 that 17 students and faculty members at MSD were shot and killed, with another 17 being left injured.
Tallas has been with the Panthers since 2009 and was part of the team and community that was deeply impacted by the tragedy.
Panthers then-goaltender and now special advisor Roberto Luongo gave a memorable, heartfelt speech before the team’s first home game following the shooting.

Friday, Tallas presented the school with the special mask Luongo wore during warmups that night.
“Obviously this school has been affected in such a negative way, and it's incredible in the last years how positive this school has turned,” Tallas said. “Coming here and giving these kids nothing but positive thoughts and beliefs is all we can do.”
