Panthers sweep Carolina to reach first Stanley Cup Final since 1996
The Florida Panthers have done the unfathomable.
The unthinkable.
Absolutely no way this happens, right?
Wrong!
The Panthers are going to the Stanley Cup Final.
Florida defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 4-3 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final on Wednesday night, completing the team’s first four-game sweep in franchise history.
Now the Panthers will wait for the winner of the Western Conference Final between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars.
Dallas leads the series 3-0.
Florida will travel for Game 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, but we won't know when or where for at least a day or two.
The NHL initially set the start of the final for June 3 months ago, but if both series end in a sweep, that date may be moved up.
For now, enjoy the moment.
The Panthers are in the final!
