Florida leads the Stanley Cup Final 2-0 after a pair of wins on home ice over Edmonton
Two games, two wins.
The Florida Panthers have continued to do what they do during the Stanley Cup Final, imposing an uncomfortable, aggressive defensive style and frustrating the heck out of their opponent.
In this case, it’s Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers on the biggest stage in all of hockey.
There was a lot to like about Game 2, but that wasn’t at the front of many people’s minds after the final buzzer sounded on Monday in Sunrise.
Panthers captain Sasha Barkov left the game midway through the third period after taking an elbow to the head from Draisaitl on a play the Edmonton star appeared to leave his feet while delivering a shot right to the face of Florida’s captain.
Draisaitl was handed a two-minute minor while Barkov left the game and did not return.
Big picture: Florida leads the Stanley Cup Final best-of-7 two games to none, but heading up to Edmonton for a pair of games with the status of their captain and leader in doubt is not a position the Cats want to be in.
After Game 2, The Hockey Show hosts Roy Bellamy and David Dwork discussed the game and the injury to Barkov.
