Florida has gone 15-5 so far during the Stanley Cup Playoffs

When the Florida Panthers take the ice together on Saturday night in Edmonton, they’ll have an opportunity to do something extremely special.

They are on the cusp of achieving the ultimate in their chosen profession.

Following Florida’s 4-3 win over the Oilers on Thursday, the Cats are now one win shy of being awarded the most coveted trophy in all of professional sports.

It’s an incredible position, one that these players have worked extremely hard to put themselves in.

Over the past couple months, Florida has played 20 playoff games.

    They’ve won 15 of them.

    Quite a run, indeed.

And now they need just one more.

So how will the Panthers react?

Is it difficult to focus? Easier?

Several of Florida’s players spoke about the opportunity following their win in Game 3.

Here is what they had to say:

Evan Rodrigues: “You’ve got to love it. You have to love having the chance, right? (The Stanley Cup is) going to be in the building, you’ve got to embrace it and you’ve got to love going to war with the guy next to you. It’s going to be exciting.”

Sergei Bobrovsky: “We’ll keep staying with the moment. Obviously, it’s a great win for us tonight. We enjoy it tonight and get ready for the next moment.”

Brandon Montour: “I think it’s one of those things where we’ll enjoy this one, we’ve had a long couple days here, so enjoy it tonight, rest and be ready for the next one.”

Sasha Barkov: “Obviously it’s there for us. You don’t think about it, you can’t think about it. All you have to do is just take one moment at a time. Right now, we have to enjoy this win. We know we battled really hard today, and we had a good win. We’ll just enjoy this, and then tomorrow we need to recover and get ready for the game. That’s about it. We never think too much ahead.”

Sam Bennett: “This job is not finished, so we’re not really thinking about that. Our whole mindset right now is recovering and getting prepared for the next game. I don’t think anyone can really look ahead. We have a lot of work to do still, so that’s our focus right now.”

Vladimir Tarasenko: “I think everybody realizes it’s important to move on. We have a one game at a time mindset. Whatever the game is, win or lose, you have to learn after it and get ready for the next one. The job is not done, and we’re just focused on the next one.”
