Florida's leaping cat logo has been beloved by the Panthers fanbase since the team's inception
The Florida Panthers have had two primary logos over their 30 years in the NHL.
Florida’s original leaping cat has long been beloved by the Panthers fanbase and hockey fans alike.
Back in 2014, The Hockey News put out a Greatest Jerseys of All Time issue.
The story came out before Florida made the switch to its current logo in 2016, and it touched on the different jerseys the Panthers had worn during the team’s history.
At that point, there had been the original red and white jerseys which were followed by a blue alternate that closed out the 90s.
It wasn’t until 2007 that the team redesigned the jerseys, keeping the leaping cat but making some aesthetic changes and dropping red as a primary jersey color, going with only white and blue.
This was all discussed in The Hockey News Greatest Jerseys of All Time issue, which came out in September of 2009, with a story penned by longtime Panthers journalist George Richards.
