Rookie Ryan McAllister is emerging as a consistent source of offense with goals in four straight games

There is a large contingent from the Florida Panthers organization spending time in California this week.
Just like their NHL counterparts, the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers packed up their skates and sticks and flew west for an extended stay on the road.
The Checkers arrived in San Jose ready to put their four-game winning streak to the test during a weekend set against the Barracuda at SAP Center.
Things went quite well for Charlotte on Friday as they came away with a thrilling 5-3 victory.
Defenseman Lucas Carlsson continues to show off his offensive prowess after leading the AHL in goals by defensemen last season, logging a hat trick while putting an impressive 12 shots on goal.
After the game, Checkers Head Coach Geordie Kinnear was asked if anything Carlsson does offensively surprises him anymore.
“I get asked every single day and I always have the same answer – nope,” he answered. “When you love the game as much as he does and you work that hard, you’re going to be rewarded and he’s always rewarded. He’s a pleasure to watch and a pleasure to have on my team.”
The veteran defenseman has 7 goals and 11 points through his first 11 games of the season.

Jonah Gadjovich and Ryan McAllister also found the back of the net for the Checkers during Friday’s win.
Things didn’t go quite as well for Charlotte on the back end of the weekend set, with the hometown Barracuda earning a 5-1 win.
McAllister had the lone goal for the visitors. The rookie has scored in four consecutive outings and is up to 5 goals and 7 points through eight games.
Goaltender Spencer Knight played in both games for the Checkers, stopping 57 of the of the 65 shots sent his way.
Through seven games in the AHL this season, Knight currently holds a 4-3-1 record to go with a 2.74 goals against average, an .899 save percentage and one shutout.
Gadjovich, who signed an AHL contract with Charlotte over the summer, was then given a one-year, one-way deal by the Panthers in October.
He joined Charlotte on a conditioning assignment last week after spending the past couple months in South Florida working his way back from injury.
“It felt great. Obviously a little rusty first few shifts, but I thought I got better as the game went on,” Gadjovich said. “All the guys were great, and it was a fun win.”
The 25-year-old skated in both weekend games for Charlotte.
“He hasn’t played in a while, but he brings experience and a positive attitude,” Checkers Head Coach Geordie Kinnear told media in San Jose after the game. “I thought he was great on the bench. Obviously scored a big goal there. He’s finding his legs and we’re glad to have him through this trip.”
