Kraken Defeat Kings 2-1

In what would be their final encounter of a four-game series, the Seattle Kraken (34-38-6) traveled to Los Angeles to face the Kings (44-24-9). Following their playoff-clinching victory, the Kings are without Joel Edmundson due to an upper-body injury, though he is listed as day-to-day and Drew Doughty was scratched. Alex Turcotte and Tanner Jeannot also remain on the injured list. Darcy Kuemper led his home team out while Joey Daccord occupied the crease. 

Puck Drops Now!

Just moments in, Quinton Byfield netted his 20th of the season to give the Kings a 1-0 lead. Los Angeles had a strong start to the period, maintaining control in their zone, while Kuemper was solid in net, blocking shots effectively. Towards the end of the period, the Kings had some sloppy passing, which eventually led to Matty Beniers scoring for the Kraken and tying the game at 1-1. In the last minute before the buzzer sounded, Brandon Montour scored to give the Kraken a 2-1 lead. 

The Second Frame 

The second period unfolded with a noticeable lack of scoring action. Despite trailing by a goal, the Kings struggled to produce offensive pressure and find the back of the net. Their attempts to equalize were often sluggish and lacked the necessary urgency in order to score a goal. Ultimately, they were unable to solve Daccord, who stood firm and tall in the Kraken's goal. The period concluded with Seattle leading 2-1. 

Final Twenty to Bounce Back

Tonight marked the longest stretch the Kings had encountered in this game without seizing control or leveling the score at 2-2. Throughout the game, they had struggled to dictate the pace and assert their dominance. Coming into this matchup, the Kings were riding the momentum of a strong four-game winning streak. However, their performance this evening suggested that this impressive run was at risk. The inability to find the tying goal indicated a potential shift in momentum, threatening to snap their hard-earned streak. Ultimately, the Kings' comeback fell short, resulting in a 2-1 defeat as they now prepare to host the Anaheim Ducks in their next home game.
