The Los Angeles Kings have already proved once in their series against the Edmonton Oilers that they can bounce back after a big loss, and they'll need to do it again in Game Four.
Priority number one for LA is figuring out their special teams which has been an Achilles Heel for them again against Edmonton.
Priority number two is intensity, as I've said all series, the only way for the Kings to pull off this upset is to outwork the Oilers in every game.
In Game Three, the Kings proved they were willing to stand up to the Oilers physically when the game got gritty in the third and they'll need to keep that energy in Game Four.
Of course, matching Edmonton's intensity is about more than getting into scuffles after the whistle and occasionally dropping the gloves. They need to be aggressive on the forecheck and get in players' faces in play not just after the whistle.
They've made life too easy on Edmonton's defensemen in this series and that has to change.
Another important factor is going to be the Kings' depth. Pierre-Luc Dubois and Kevin Fiala having just one goal each is disastrous.
Both players have spent the majority of this series matched up against the Oilers' third line centered by Ryan McLeod and have done nothing in that matchup.
Sure, the underlying numbers look good, they're outshooting and out-chancing that line heavily, but without production, that doesn't matter.
This is why Dubois was acquired, to take advantage of the team's "depth" and dominate against the opposition's third line.
It's also a role we saw Kevin Fiala have success in last season, but that is gone.
Both players have been non-factors in this series and that is a massive problem for Jim Hiller.
They're now relying on the top of their lineup to outgun the top of Edmonton's lineup, and that isn't a recipe for success despite Game Two's result.
As Game Three showed, that was likely more the exception than the rule.
If the Kings can't outwork Edmonton, figure out their special teams and get some production from their depth, Game Three will be another disappointing one.
