The Los Angeles Kings need to sign a starting goalie for next season; as of right now, they only have David Rittich locked up for next season, who will likely be their backup.
Their only challenge is the lack of goaltending options in this free-agent class. There isn't a true number-one goalie who is available, and if they want that, it'll need to come via trade.
However, there are a few options that they could look at in tandem with Rittich to help the Kings stop the puck and win games. That will also require a complete buy-in from their forward and defence groups to play solid two-way hockey for 82 games and into the playoffs.
The two goalie options that make the most sense for the Kings would be Laurent Brossoit or Ilya Samsonov. Both can win games and be reliable tandem starters, but they won't be able to carry the workload of a traditional starting goalie with a 65/35 split.
If the Kings are looking for a goalie who will want term, their best bet would be Samsonov. He played well with the Toronto Maple Leafs the last two seasons but will likely price himself out of there.
The Kings can provide a big city experience with less media pressure, which may be the best thing for him to be a consistent starter in the NHL for the next number of years.
