BREAKING: Doughty Selected to Team Canada

Drew Doughty will don the maple leaf once again. After only six games of action since his return, the future Hall of Famer has been officially named as Canada’s replacement for Alex Pietrangelo in the 4 Nations Face-Off.

For Doughty, it will be the first time he’s represented Canada since 2016 when he helped his nation win the gold medal in the World Cup of Hockey.

Outside of possible World Championship appearances, it will likely be the last time he gets to represent Canada at the world stage. He is a two time Olympic gold medalist, a World Cup gold medalist, and a World Junior gold medalist.

For the Los Angeles Kings, it is likely good news that Doughty will be competing at the highest level while the rest of the league is on hiatus. Recent games have shown that his timing isn’t quite there, making the tournament a good opportunity for Doughty to sharpen his game before the crucial stretch run.

The seven games for the 4 Nations Face-Off will be played from Feb. 12 to 20, 2025. Four games will be played at the Bell Centre in Montreal and three games, including the championship game, at TD Garden in Boston.
