Kings fall behind 1-0 in the series against the Edmonton Oilers

The Los Angeles Kings and Edmonton Oilers kicked off their first-round series last night, and it did not go as planned.

The Kings quickly found themselves down 4-0 and had to try and battle back. Unfortunately, they couldn't crawl back into the game like they hoped and dropped Game 1, 7-4.

After the game, the players spoke to the media, and the one that stood out was Drew Doughty. He quickly shut down the argument about the Kings being in trouble already after one game by saying, "It’s a seven-game series, and you have to win the first to four. We’re down 1-0, but we can easily win and make it 1-1 next game.”

He would then go on to say, “That’s not our model. That’s not the way we play. It’s frustrating. We just have to put that game in the past and get back to doing what we do best, and that’s playing good two-way hockey."

This speaks to the fact that the Kings were third in goals allowed through the 82-game season, and in Game 1, they allowed the Oilers to put up seven on them.

Doughty is a passionate player and will likely come out in Game 2 with all he can to keep his team from going down 2-0 in the series.

The Kings will need to battle hard and attempt to tie the series before they head back home for Games 3 and 4.

Game 2 goes on Wednesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time.
