Todd McLellan appears to be the front-runner for the Blue Jacket's coaching opening
According to a recent report, the Los Angeles Kings' former head coach, Todd McLellan, looks to be gaining traction as the next head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Blue Jackets have made a few franchise-altering moves in the last few weeks.
First, they hired the former Carolina Hurricanes' GM, Don Waddell, as the team's next GM. Soon after that hiring, Waddell relieved head coach Pascal Vincent of his duties.
Now, it looks like the organization is prepared to go all in and get a big-name coach in McLellan to run the team on the ice.
McLellan, 56, has spent the last five seasons with the Kings and made two playoff appearances.
Before that, he spent four seasons with the Edmonton Oilers and seven with the San Jose Sharks, which were the best years of his career. Before the Sharks, he started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings.
During McLellan's time with the Kings, he had a 164-130-44 before getting relieved of his duties and being replaced by current health coach Jim Hiller.
