On Tuesday, the latest episode of the Cam & Strick Podcast dropped and it featured a familiar face for Los Angeles Kings fans.
Former head coach Todd McLellan was on to discuss his career and his time with the Kings.
It's worth a listen for any Kings fan.
Of course, Pierre-Luc Dubois can up in the episode. You can't discuss this Kings team without discussing the $8.5 million center who's disappointed in year one.
McLellan first made the point that Dubois took advantage of players ability to decide where they play and that he shouldn't be criticized for that.
He then went into Dubois' personality a bit.
"He's a great human being," said McLellan. "He's misunderstood at times by the outside world, simply because he took advantage of what he earned. And that was the right to come to LA. It's never easy going to a new team, and it's never easy coming to a new team as a go-to player or a top six player. It takes a little bit of time. The LA Kings play the game a little different than a lot of teams do. Checking comes first so you've got to adapt to that. I think it took PL a little bit. But I think he has a chance to have a huge impact on what happens with the team moving forward now. And I believe he can do that."
Whether Dubois can actually turn things around on the ice is yet to be seen, but this should stop the comments that Dubois' a "cancer" in the locker room.
It's a tag that's followed him, and has never really been fair.
As McLellan said, he's been misunderstood at times, but you rarely hear negative comments about his personality off the ice.
Being a good person off the ice isn't enough when you're making the money Dubois makes and have the expectations he has, but it is something to keep in mind when discussing Dubois.
One of the things that has kept some hopeful that Dubois will find his game in LA is his first year in Winnipeg where he also struggled.
As McLellan said, it's hard to come into a new team with the kind of expectations that Dubois had.
It was interesting that he called Dubois a top-six player though. McLellan rarely used him as a top-six player and almost exclusively used him as a 3C.
That's semantics though. McLellan is right about one thing, he will have a huge impact on this teams future, positively or negatively.
McLellan thinks he'll figure it out and will trend towards the positive, we'll see if he's right.
