The LA Kings entered the 2025 offseason facing another year of playoff disappointment and a roster in question. With several roster questions and trades, General Manager Ken Holland has opted not to make a splash, instead staying quiet, leaving fans wondering if the Kings have truly improved.
The most notable subtractions this offseason for the Kings were losing Vladislav Gavrikov for nothing and trading away Jordan Spence for only three draft picks, receiving no players in return.
LA attempted to execute a sign-and-trade deal with the Rangers for Gavrikov, aiming to secure at least something for the Player, who had his best season with the Kings in the three seasons with the team, but the deal reportedly fell through and didn’t materialize.
Offseason Grade (So Far): C
The Kings didn’t make a significant splash, nor did they address their glaring need for scoring depth or a clear-cut star to help lead the way for a deep playoff run.
Again, not every team has to hit a home run on every offseason or add superstars, but this roster looks too similar to last season’s–maybe worse, and one that exited early yet again in the playoffs.
With a few roster spots available and tight cap space, the needle hasn’t moved much yet. Unless a trade shakes things up, LA’s 2025 offseason feels like a missed opportunity.
