According to recent reports from Frank Seravalli, the Edmonton Oilers "have certainly kept him [Viktor Arvidsson] on their radar."
Arvidsson is a pending UFA, and all signs point to him not being re-signed by the Kings. He will be testing the open market on July 1.
The team to watch is the Oilers. They are currently in the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers, but with the season and playoffs going so far into June, teams are already planning their moves for the off-season.
Arvidsson to the Oilers makes a ton of sense; he is a reliable veteran who has proven to be a good locker-room guy. But what he can bring to the ice will likely attract the Oilers.
Seravalli had this to say about Arvidsson being a fit for Edmonton this off-season:
“He’s also a guy who’s been a really consistent producer. He missed a ton of games last year; he’s been dealing with those injuries that have really crippled him in terms of his games played, and he’s someone that I think is going to be a sneaky, sneaky good addition for someone the Oilers are certainly going to be keeping tabs on.”
Seravalli is exactly right; although he didn't appear in a lot of games due to injuries, he can still be a sneaky-good point producer.
In his last three seasons with the Kings, he has 123 points in 161 games. Which includes a 59-point season in 77 games back in 2022–23.
For the Oilers, signing Arvidsson wouldn't cost a lot. Since he is coming off of a season where he only played in 18 games (15 points), he would likely be willing to take a bit less to prove that he can still play at a high level.
If he does this, there truly isn't a better team than the Oilers to do it with. He would be a top-six forward for them, playing alongside Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl and collecting points with ease.
