The Los Angeles Kings have acquired power forward Tanner Jeannot from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning made another trade prior to the deal when they traded Mikhail Seragechev to the Utah Hockey Club.

In exchange for Jeannot, the Kings traded two picks in the 2024 4th round (118) and a 2025 2nd round pick (LAK). If the Kings can get Jeannot back to the style of game he was playing with the Nashville Predators, this trade will be one of the best GM Rob Blake has made.

Jeannot was dealt from the aforementioned Predators to the Lightning for almost an entire draft class and Calle Foote at the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline, and now they have moved him for just two picks.

Tampa is in clearing cap space mode, so they can re-sign their core players and make a run at a few big-name UFAs in free agency.

As for the Kings, they just got a player in Jeannot who will play hard in all 82 games. But more importantly, he is someone who isn't afraid to get into his opponent's head and drop the gloves. Which is the perfect fit when it comes to the playoffs. If the Kings and Edmonton Oilers meet again in the first round, Jeannot will make life tough on all of the Oilers' top players.
