Lately, much speculation has been surrounding Los Angeles Kings forward Arthur Kaliyev. Regarding where he will be traded, when he will be traded, and if the Kings could keep and utilize him this season.
Well, personally, after a young forward becomes disgruntled and asks for a trade, it may be time to move on. It can be extremely difficult for a team and player of Kaliyev's age (23) to rekindle a relationship.
Now, as to where he could be dealt, is a tough call. He would likely be a reclamation project for most teams, but what team wants to take him on?
My colleague (Austin Stanovich) and I have looked at a ton of options. We have explored the Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, New York Islanders, Colorado Avalanche, and more.
There is another team that sort of makes sense as a trade partner, and that is the San Jose Sharks. They are a young up-and-coming team that could flip a few draft picks for the Kaliyev.
He would fit with the younger core that the Sharks are building in Macklin Celebrini and Will Smith. The added benefit to him being traded to the Sharks is the lack of pressure to succeed.
Whereas the Kings are an annual playoff team, so they need all hands on deck.
The Kaliyev sega will likely come to an end before the start of training. So stay tuned to see where he ends up; maybe it will be with the Kings' rival, the Sharks.
