Kings have traded Carl Grundstrom to the Sharks for Kyle Burroughs

We are 24 hours away from the 2024 NHL Draft, and there has been news galore today.

The Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks joined the action when they announced a trade they made.

The Kings have dealt pending RFA forward Carl Grundstrom to the Sharks in exchange for Kyle Burroughs.

Burroughs, 28, is signed for two more seasons at an AAV of $1.1 million. He will likely be a bottom-pairing defenseman for the Kings, but he can still provide some depth.

Burroughs appeared in 72 games with the Sharks and had eight points. However, he isn't known for offensive production but rather for his defensive style of play. In those 72 games, he had 223 hits and 134 blocks. His style of play will fit well with the Kings' roster, which tends to be physical.

As for Grundstrom, he is a pending free agent with arbitration rights who will be given a lot more opportunity to be an everyday NHL player in the Sharks' top six.

In 50 games with the Kings, he had 12 points. However, when given the chance to play a bit higher in the lineup, he could be a 25–30-point player. Which will be good for the Sharks as they start to move towards the middle part of their rebuild.
