The Los Angeles Kings were in a slide by their standards heading into Saturday's game against the Seattle Kraken.
They had lost three straight for the first time since their season opening three-game losing streak and needed to get back into the win column.
Things started poorly for the Kings after the he Kraken went up 1-0 off a fluky Adam Larsson goal just six minutes in.
Trevor Moore would tie the game later in the period with some fancy hands in front for his team-leading 14th goal of the season.
Anze Kopitar would then put the Kings up by one in the second on the power play.
Kopitar finished into an empty net after some fantastic luck movement between Adrian Kempe and Quinton Byfield.
Kempe sucked two defenders into him before releasing Byfield into space.
Byfield hesitated for a second, then took that open ice and feathered a beautiful backhand pass to Kopitar back door.
The Kings continued to dominate possession in this game, but a late power-play goal from Oliver Bjorkstrand sent the game to overtime.
The Kings had a big chance on the power play in overtime but couldn't capitalize, sending the game into a shootout.
It took nine rounds, but Carl Grundstrom eventually called game with a love glove snipe to put the Kings back in the win column.
Joey Daccord did everything in his power to steal this game from the Kings, warning first star honors in a 36 save effort, but the Kings came away winners.
The Kings are back in action on Tuesday, taking on the San Jose Sharks in San Jose.
