The Kings Should Look to Flip Kaliyev to the Islanders this Summer

Arthur Kaliyev and the Los Angeles Kings haven't seen eye-to-eye for the bulk of the season, and it has affected how much he has played.

The Kings seem to have gone in a different direction and have chosen to move on from Kaliyev and development.

It was a surprise at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline that GM Rob Blake didn't look to move him. Now that he didn't, the Kings were bounced in the first round by the Edmonton Oilers.

It may finally be time for the organization to part ways with Kaliyev and collect a draft pick or a young prospect for him.

The first team that comes to mind is the New York Islanders. They need to score badly. They are a good team, but they lack a few solid scoring options. The types of players that have plays designed for them to shoot the puck into the net.

That could be Kaliyev; he is still so young in his career that he can turn it all around and be a 25-goal scorer if he is given the opportunity.

Kaliyev may be the most viable option for the Islanders, who will be looking for scoring this offseason. He won't cost the team a ton, and he can be the shooter on the Matthew Barzel and Bo Horvat line.

For the Kings, they could look at recouping a draft pick or two for him to help deepen their prospect pool. Blake would be smart to set the asking price at a B-level prospect and a mid-round draft pick.
