Fiala was Nominated for the 2024 King Clancy Trophy
The NHL has released their candidates for the 2024 King Clancy Memorial Trophy. With every NHL team getting a nominee, the Los Angeles Kings' choice was Kevin Fiala.
The King Clancy Memorial Trophy is awarded to a player who “best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution to his community.”
Fiala has been very involved in the community of Los Angeles. He has a foundation called Fiala Friends, which gives patients from the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) an opportunity to take in a Kings home game.
He also makes his way to the children's hospital as often as he can, which is just outstanding. It means so much for the children at the hospital, who are struggling with major health challenges, to have the chance to talk with some of their idols.
Fiala also hosts hockey youth camps, which help raise money for the Kings Care Foundation and CHLA. Lastly, on his long list of community commitments, he is also involved with the Adopt-A-Family and Make-A-Wish Foundations. Fiala is a go-to player for the Kings to be involved in the community.
As mentioned before, there is a nominee from each of the 32 NHL teams. Fiala is up against the likes of Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche.
The winner of the King Clancy Memorial Trophy will be announced at the NHL Awards ceremony in June 2024. However, when it comes to community involvement of this magnitude, it's not so much about winning the award but more about changing the lives of the youth in their respective teams' communities.
