Los Angeles Kings hockey is back and it's been a stuttering start for the Kings' rookie faceoff roster.
First things first, winning and losing doesn't actually matter in this tournament.
It's more about development for the players and a chance to watch younger players for team's staff.
Still, winning is better than losing and the Kings haven't won yet through two games.
They lost their opener to the Vegas Golden Knights and lost to the Utah HC roster in overtime on Saturday.
Their final game is a rivalry one as they take on the Anaheim Ducks.
This is arguably the most difficult game of the weekend for the Kings.
The Ducks roster features some high picks like Cutter Gauthier and Tristan Luneau and some experienced skill players like Yegor Sidorov and Sasha Pustajov.
The Kings will have to continually lean heavily on Aatu Jamsen who's been their best player over the weekend.
They'll also need their defense to step up, ideally with Jakub Dvorak leading the charge, especially if Brandt Clarke is out of the lineup again.
A big part of this game will be setting the tone for young players. These are newer players in their organization and getting an early taste of this rivalry is important.
Games between the Kings and Ducks at this tournament have typically been a heated affair and I'd expect that to continue.
It's also helped by featuring some Ontario Reign and San Diego Gulls players who have developed a rivalry of their own in the AHL.
A win doesn't actually matter for Kings but it would still be a big plus to not get swept on the weekend.
