The Los Angeles Kings have replaced defenseman Matt Roy with veteran Joel Edmundson.
Edmundson has signed a four-year, $3.8 million deal with the Kings to help stabilize their blue line.
Last season, Edmundson played the bulk of it with the Washington Capitals before being moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline.
Although he started last season on the IR, he appeared in 53 games and had one goal and five assists for six total points. However, he isn't known for scoring, but he is known for his defensive ability and hard-hitting play.
Edmundson is a left-handed shooting defender who can play on either side of the ice. He will likely be a bottom-pairing guy for the Kings but could also slot on the second-pairing alongside Vladislav Gavrikov on the right side as a shutdown pairing for the Kings.
Edmundson will help the Kings down the stretch and into the playoffs, similar to how he helped stabilize the Maple Leafs' back end.
