Dubois wants to play for the Canadiens so the Kings should accommodate his request
Due to the recent skepticism surrounding Pierre-Luc Dubois' future with the Los Angeles Kings and the numerous reports from the last offseason regarding his desire to play for the Montreal Canadiens, It may be wise for the Kings to work out a deal to get him off their salary cap as soon as possible.
Let's face it, Dubois was not good this season, including in the playoffs. He seems to lack the will, effort, and drive to be an LA King or even an NHL player.
Playing in the NHL is a dream of so many, and yes, every kid growing up has a favourite team they would want to play for. Unfortunately, they don't always get that opportunity, and that means playing for other teams.
Dubois isn't going to be happy until he suits up for the Canadiens. That much is clear. The Kings can't have another season of this lack of effort. The most logical option for GM Rob Blake is to call the Canadiens' GM, Kent Hughes, and ask what the return would be for Dubois.
There may be a chance that Montreal doesn't want Dubois, but if they do, the Kings should try to get as much as they can for him. His value is a lot lower than what it was last season, so they won't get anywhere close to what they gave up for him.
However, at this point, it makes the most sense to move on from him and his contract. Rather than buying him out and taking the cap hit, it would be better to attempt a trade if there is a path for one, and they should start with the Canadiens.
