The Los Angeles Kings missed out on most of the top names in free agency on day one, but they did bring in forward Warren Foegele from the rival Edmonton Oilers.
Foegele is reportedly signing a three-year deal carrying an AAV of $3.5 million.
The 28-year-old forward finished last season with 20 goals and 41 points in the regular season, three goals, and eight points in 22 postseason games.
Foegele is a big body at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds and can absolutely fly.
He's far from a star producer and I wouldn't consider him a Viktor Arvidsson replacement as some have surmised, but he's a solid depth piece.
He's also familiar with the Pacific Division and has a lot of playoff experience under his belt now.
Probably more of a third-line forward than second liner in that middle-six, Foegele did show an ability to move up the lineup during the Stanley Cup final with Edmonton.
He wasn't a consistent penalty killer for Edmonton, however, he did kill penalties at times and LA might try him on the PK given his speed.
Seeing a Foegele signing won't get anyone jumping out of their seats, but he's a good depth piece that should help this team win games.
He also brings that 'desire to win' element Rob Blake banged on about in his exit interview.
