    22 years ago, the LA Kings retired Wayne Gretzky's #99

    The Los Angeles King had the honor of having the greatest hockey player of all time, suit up for their organization. Wayne Gretzky changed the entire outlook on hockey in California. 

    It was today, 22 years ago, that the Great One had his #99 retired by the Kings organization.

    During his eight seasons with the Kings, he did not disappoint. In 539 games, he had 246 goals, 672 assists for 918 points. 

    Gretzky also played for the Edmonton Oilers, St.Louis Blues, and New York Rangers. He ended his career with 894 goals, 1963 assists for 2857 points in 1487 games.

    His #99 has since been retired league wide.
