A former defender who played for the Los Angeles Kings' AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign, reportedly has interest from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Joseph Cecconi, who is 28 years old, spent part of the 2024-25 season with the Reign, where he scored no goals but had four assists through 23 games.

He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft at 133rd overall by the Dallas Stars after a strong season in the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, where he had 17 points through 60 games.

He is currently an unrestricted free agent (UFA) looking to sign a new deal, and as the 2025-26 season approaches, he will soon have to decide on where he will be playing next.

The team sought to bolster its size and experience, and while that was achieved, significant gaps remained, including enforcement.
