The Los Angeles Kings are going to look very different next season, and they still have over $6.7 million in cap space to spend this summer if they want to continue trying to fill out their roster and improve in hopes of making a deep playoff run. One player they've been linked to in recent weeks is defender Bowen Byram.

According to The Fourth Period, the Kings are among a ton of teams who are interested in acquiring Byram from the Buffalo Sabres, and while he is going to go through arbitration after the team decided to elect for it, rumblings continue to surround him as he is still believed to be available in a trade.

Byram, who is 24 years old, scored seven goals and added 31 assists for 38 points through 82 games last season. Throughout his career, he has scored 33 goals and added 77 assists for 110 points through 246 games. The one thing that doesn't look positive and should turn some teams away, if he is truly looking at a $9 million annual salary, is his analytics.

Time will tell if the Kings decide to make a push for Byram this summer, but if they do, they need to make sure they don't overpay in a trade or on a new extension.

Gavrikov could easily command the same value as Jakob Chychrun ($9.0) in Washington on the open market. From early looks, the Kings might not be willing to match.
