Fans shouldn't give up hope on Alex Turcotte quite yet

Although he has not lived up to the hype of being a top prospect, one writer believes that the Kings should not give up on their former fifth overall pick.

Forward Alex Turcotte was selected fifth overall in the 2019 NHL Draft by the LA Kings. Despite being one of the top players in his class, Turcotte has only played in 12 games at the NHL level and has yet to record a point.

In his three season in the AHL with the Ontario Reign, Turcotte has been a solid player by putting up 56 points in 91 games, but he has done nothing extraordinary at that level.

Many people believe that Turcotte needs a change of scenery or something for him to reach his full potential.

Hockey Royalty writer Kyle Garcia believes that the Kings shouldn't give up on their top prospect quite yet accord to his most recent article.

Garcia cites injuries as the reason why Turcotte has been unable to break out so far in his career.

"Alex Turcotte has been a prospect that Kings fans have been waiting for to break out but hasn’t done so with injuries the past two seasons. I don’t see the Kings giving up on Turcotte, just yet. When speaking with Luc Robitaille at a season ticket member event in March, I sensed that they are still high on their 5th overall pick from the 2019 draft. The most important thing for Turcotte this season is availability. However, it doesn’t mean he’s untouchable in any potential trade packages that make the Kings better."

Whether he's with the Kings or elsewhere by the time training camp starts, Kings fans should wish the best for the former top 5 pick.
