Kings 2026-27 Player Preview: Adrian Kempe

As the NHL season approaches, teams are finalizing rosters and previewing what this season could look like. For the Kings, they likely won't have to worry much about star forward Adrian Kempe, who is coming off a 73-point season in which he scored 36 goals and tallied 37 assists. Now, with new offensive superstar Artemi Panarin, Kempe has more offensive help, which could boost his point total and help the Kings. 

Over the last 3 seasons, Kempe has been not only the Kings' top point scorer, but also one of the most consistent players in their lineup. Over the last 3 seasons, Kempe has reached the 70-point mark with ease, and looking ahead to this upcoming season, there is little doubt he will do it again as long as he remains healthy. 

Kempe not only has Panarin, but he also has a new coach with a different offensive system that could make the Kings stronger offensively; if so, Kempe could look for an even stronger season with them. One major aspect is that Kempe has been healthy; in the last 3 seasons, Kempe has played in 239 regular-season games out of a maximum total of 246, meaning that Kempe has only missed 7 games in 3 seasons. 

So, assuming Adrian Kempe can remain healthy as he has over the years, this season could be the first in his career in which he reaches the 80-point mark. With the Kings' offseason additions, Adrian Kempe could be looking not only at the 80-point mark but also at a point-per-game season.

Overall, if Adrian Kempe stays healthy this season, he could be a point-per-game player if the Kings' new additions, both on the ice and behind the bench, make the Kings' offence stronger than it has been over the last couple of seasons.
