Looking back at Quinton Byfield's 2025-26 season and seeing how he has progressed in his 5th season with the Kings.
The 2025-26 season was different for Quinton Byfield, as he recorded 49 points in 79 games with the Kings. While in his last 2 seasons, he has put up 50 points, his progression seems to be slowing slightly, but he continues to show promise in certain areas throughout the season. Quinton Byfield had a solid season with the Kings, but Kings fans want to see a big jump headed into next season.
Quinton Byfield's Season
Quinton Byfield is one of the Kings' players who are part of the next generation. Since being drafted 2nd overall in the 2020 draft, many Kings fans have been patiently waiting for his true breakout season, and while he has put up 3 20-goal seasons in the last 3 seasons, many Kings fans wonder if there is a next gear for Byfield. Byfield was 2nd on the Kings in points behind only Adrian Kempe. Byfield had 24 goals, 25 assists for 49 points while averaging 20 minutes a game.
A big topic in the 2025-26 season was December for Byfield, when he went pointless in 10 consecutive games while playing 2nd line minutes for the Kings. While his playing time remained unchanged, he had notable slumps this season and often struggled to maintain consistency.
But the silver lining is that Byfield is only 23 years old and has proven to be a strong goalscorer for the Kings, and with the new coach Peter Laviolette and his new offensive system, the Kings, who struggled offensivly could not only get better offensive production but a new system could help Byfield and other younger players on the Kings roster find their game and be able to produce more.
Overall, Byfield is still progressing for the Kings, and with him having 3 20-goal seasons all back-to-back, looking forward to next season, Byfield could be a surprise for the Kings with a new system as he continues to progress.
