The Los Angeles Kings still have some money left over to make some moves both over the remainder of this offseason and looking into the future. One player they could look to target and extend is Dallas Stars' forward Jason Robertson, but what would that look like?
To move on from Robertson, the Stars would need an enticing package going back their way, likely with some combination of NHL-ready players, prospects, and picks. In theory, a deal and extension are possible.
Realistically, a deal likely looks like the Kings acquiring Robertson with an extension attached in exchange for Brandt Clarke, Alex Laferriere, their 2027 first-round pick, and a conditional 2028 first-round pick.
A deal like this puts the Kings into championship contention for the next several seasons, but time will tell if they decide to pull the trigger on a big move like this, or if they stand pat and see what their team looks like heading into the start of the 2025-26 season.
They have the money to do it, will they? Should they?
