The Swedish netminder has resumed solo skating following hip surgery, but a lengthy recovery timeline leaves Jesper Wallstedt and Calvin Pickard to anchor the Minnesota crease.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild will be without goaltender Filip Gustavsson for at least another month, according to head coach John Hynes.

Gustavsson, who has been sidelined following hip surgery, recently began skating on his own but remains a significant distance away from returning to game action.

When asked Sunday how much longer Gustavsson could be sidelined, Hynes offered a brief response.

"Quite a ways," Hynes said.

When asked specifically whether the goaltender was more than a month away from returning, Hynes indicated that a return within the next month was unlikely.

"I don't think less than a month," Hynes said.

There is at least one positive development in Gustavsson's recovery. The Swedish netminder has resumed skating, although he has yet to rejoin his teammates for practice.

"He just started skating on his own. Yeah," Hynes said.

The update suggests Gustavsson won't return until at least mid-November, leaving Minnesota without one of its primary goaltenders for several more weeks.

In his absence, Jesper Wallstedt and Calvin Pickard have handled the goaltending duties for the Wild.

While Gustavsson has taken an important step forward by returning to the ice, Hynes' latest comments indicate Minnesota will need to remain patient as the 28-year-old continues his recovery.
