It was recently announced that the NHL will send their top players to represent their countries at the next two Olympics in 2026 and 2030. Could Wild defenseman Brock Faber represent Team USA?
In a recent poll conducted on Twitter by JFresh Hockey, Faber was listed as one of eight defensemen who would make Team USA's team.
Faber, 21, led all rookies with 11 assists and 13 points in 14 games in January which earned him Rookie of the Month honors. With Connor Bedard and now Adam Fantilli out with injuries, Faber could become this year's Rookie of the Year award winner if he continues at this pace.
It truly is incredible how Faber has seamlessly transitioned from the NCAA to the NHL and has shown little flaws. It definitely says something about how well Faber has played this year that he is being considered as an option to play for Team USA during the 2026 Olympics.
The Minnesota native was the captain for Team USA during the 2022 World Junior Championships and later played in all four games for Team USA in the 2022 Olympics with fellow Gopher teammates Matthew Knies and Ben Meyers.
The 6-foot-1 defenseman has four goals and 29 points in 49 games this year for the Wild. But it's much more than just points with Faber. The former second-rounder by the Los Angeles Kings is averaging 24 minutes and 51 seconds this season which ranks first among all rookies.
Faber could be a lock to play for Team USA during both the 2026 and the 2030 Olympics if he keeps up his tremendous play.
