Brock Faber has tied Connor Bedard for most points as a rookie.

With two points last night, Wild defenseman Brock Faber has now tied Connor Bedard for the most points as a rookie this season.

The remarkable story of Faber continues. Not only did he have two points last night along with setting up the game-winning goal, Faber had a SCF% of 72.73 according to Natural Stat Trick. What that means is Faber was out there for eight scoring chances for and only three scoring chances against.

Not only that but he was on the ice for the last two minutes and 38 seconds. It was the second game in a row that Faber was used to protect a lead late in a game. Something many other rookies are not doing in the NHL right now.

You could argue Faber should win the Calder Trophy which is given to the best rookie during the season, based on his defensive play alone. So adding the fact that Faber is now tied for the rookie lead in points, should make him the favorite to win the Calder.

Faber, 21, has four goals and 29 assists this season for 33 points in 52 games. He is on pace for over 50 points which has only been done by two players in Wild franchise history and Faber would do it as a rookie. Ryan Suter had 50 and 51 in two seasons and Matt Dumba had 50 in 2017-18.

If he keeps this up, the Calder Trophy should easily be his for the taking. He has been that good this season.
